Final Project

At the beginning of the semester, students were told to form a group containing 8-10 people in it.  After getting a group, my groupmates and I decided on the topic we could use for the project.  Below are the potential topics that we want to use during this project:
  • The dangers of polyester fabric
  • Animal shelter
  • Stereotypes against Gen-Z
After getting feedback from Mr. Shamsul, our group decided to take on the topic 'Stereotypes Against Gen-Z'.  Later, we continue to divide the tasks for making the ppt for our presentation.

Our purpose in taking this topic is to highlight the common stereotypes that are often heard about Gen-Z as a generation who grew up with gadgets, we also want to deliver the message that being a Gen-Z does not mean that we cannot keep up and adapt in this world, but the opposite as Gen-Z we always try our best to help the world to be a better place, challenging those stereotypes about Gen-Z can help foster inclusivity and appreciation for Gen-Z's contribution in this world.

After done with our presentation on week 2, we continued to divide the tasks that we would do in making the video.

My role in this project is to do research, It can be seen that my name was placed in the script making as well, it was because I helped a little in giving suggestions for the script ideation, that is why Graciella typed my name there.

As my main role is to do research, I started as soon as our meeting ended.  Because based on the timeline, my part should be done first, so the rest can start doing the work.  For my research, I googled up some things related to Gen-Z, but I focused on how Gen-Z survived in they're work place.  In this task, 3 people are taking responsibility which is me, Graciella, and Yan Ling.  To access our complete research can refer to this Gdocs link here.

After the research was done, we continued making the script, which J Xin and Graciella in charge in making it.  For detailed progress can refer to their blog link here:

After the script done, Cindy and May take over to continue doing the story board to give visually describe the scene from the script.

After done with the script and storyboard, our group started with the illustration, for this particular task, Edita were the one who's in charge in making the characters.  Click this link to see the illustration.  When all of the illustration done, the whole file will be given to Zi Qi, she will be the one who animated the video.  The process took a long time because there is a lot of elements that need to be animated.  At the same time, Emily and Yan Ling who's in charge in editing started to check on the audio, prepared to ad the fx and edit the video.  After a week, our video is finally done.  Below is the link to all of my groupmates: 


Feedback

Week 1
The topic of 'Stereotypes Against Gen-Z' is interesting, this can be the topic for the final project.

Week 2
After the presentation wo got feedback to be more specific on the target audience and might put an interesting concept from Gen-Z's point of view in the video like a survival tips as Gen-Z in the workplace.

Week 5
Overall, the process is good and can continue, for the time indication in the storyboard can be placed the specific time (ex: the first scene is 7 secs, so put 7s) instead of the estimation like 0-7s


Reflection

Experience: In this project, I learned how to work effectively in a group that consists of a lot of people, however, I also realized the importance of being on time doing our assigned task, because finishing our task on time, will help the whole group to achieve the goal.  I'm glad that my group is able to maintain consistency and on time, even though we faced a lot of difficulties.  I want to use this opportunity to show my appreciation to all of my groupmates, you all did a great job to help the baby (our video) arrive safely in this world.

Observation: Doing a group task is the challenge itself, we have to maintain the consistency of our work, also communication is the key of a good teamwork.

Findings: Overall this module gave me new insights regarding infographics, I learned that infographics are not just a poster that consists of information, but a medium to convey messages to the audience and it has its own structure.  By doing this project with all of my friends, I get to apply the knowledge I got, which is on how to gather data in my research, and to summarize information so it could be understand easily.
